Morrissey - Ringleader Of The Tormentors
Ringleader Of The Tormentors is Morrissey's eighth solo album which debuted at number one in the UK album charts and number 27 in the US. It also hit no. 1 in Sweden Malta and Greece. Billboard magazine described the album as showcasing a thicker more rock-driven sound; Morrissey attributes this change in sound to new guitarist Jesse Tobias. The album was released on 3rd April 2006 in most of the world and on 4th April 2006 in North America. The album was released on the Attack Records label.

The Naxos Deutsche Schubert-Lied-Edition: Schubert set the poetry of over 115 writers to music. He selected poems from classical Greece the Middle Ages and the Renaissance from eighteenth-century German authors early Romantics Biedermeier poets and Heine. The Deutsche Schubert-Lied-Edition presents all Schubert’s Lieder over 700 songs grouped according to the poets who inspired him. Thanks to Bärenreiter’s Neue Schubert-Ausgabe (New Schubert Edition) Tübingen which uses primary sources the performers have been able to benefit from the most recent research of the editorial team. Naxos’s acclaimed series of Schubert’s Lieder continues with a selection of songs with texts by contemporaneous poets such as Johann Gaudenz Baron von Salis-Seewis Friedrich von Köpken and Peter Johann Uz important early Romantics whose fame today owes much to Schubert’s enduring settings.

Sephardic music from the ancient domain of al-Andalus (Andalusia) lies at the heart of of this selection of songs in remembrance of a lost homeland. The word endechar comes from a time before the expulsion of the Jews and their culture from Spain in 1492; within the Jewish community it meant ‘to sing funeral dirges’ or ‘to lament’. After leaving Spain the Sephardim kept alive the tradition of singing endechas (laments) romances (narrative ballads) and other songs in their traditional language ladino or Judaeo-Spanish which was based on ancient Castilian. This was enriched by the addition of words from Hebrew and then from the languages music and instruments of the places to which they travelled such as Greece the Balkans Turkey and Morocco.
